How do you react when you hear the phrase “judgment day”? Are you scared, or are you celebrating?
If you have chosen to follow Jesus, there is no need to be afraid of being judged in heaven’s courtroom. Why? Because Jesus’ love at work in us has us “covered”! Check it out: “Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment . . . There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:16-18).*
The judgment is about whether or not we’ve chosen to follow Jesus no matter what.
Look at it this way: Let’s say you needed to have your car inspected in order to get it on the road. You take it to the world’s greatest mechanic to get it ready. Would you be afraid that it wouldn’t pass inspection? Probably not!
That’s how it is with the judgment. Jesus, the world’s greatest “Heart Mechanic,” will have you ready to go!
Now, the Bible also makes it clear that we’re to take God’s judgment seriously. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). But with Jesus’ power at work in your life each day, you can look forward to “judgment day”!
By the way, did you know that the end-time “judgment day” period has already begun? In the Bible, the eighth chapter of Daniel speaks of this period. Using the language of the Jewish sacrifices, verse 8 states: “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.” An angel is speaking, and this is his way of telling us when the judgment period began. Tracing the prophecy to its beginning time date, the period ends in A.D. 1844. That’s when the court in heaven began its session, and it’s taking place right now!
